Good morning! Here are 10 things you need to know this morning:

1. Former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday defeated other aspirants in the All Progressives Congress presidential primaries. Buhari polled 3,430 votes to defeat other contenders in the Primaries that held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, Nigeria.

2. Police operatives had on Friday in the ancient city of Kano uncovered and detonated a high calibre Improvised Explosive Device at Dawnau, a popular food market in the city. Reports say that the bomb was hidden a sack and kept in the busy market.

3. Jos, the capital of Plateau state was on Friday hit with a twin explosions. Report says the explosions believed to be the handiwork of the suspected Boko Haram insurgents went off at the popular Terminus area, killing over 30 persons.

4. Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has conceded defeat in the just concluded presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC by congratulating General Mohammadu Buhari even though counting is still ongoing. In his concession speech, he said Buhari ran a spirited campaign, and since the delegates had spoken, he fully deserved the victory.

5. With the emergence of President Goodluck Jonathan as PDP presidential candidate, the Transformation Agenda of Nigeria, TAN, has commended the decision of the party. Former Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State and the state Coordinator of Transformation Ambassador of Nigeria, also commended campaign effort put up for the President so far.

6. A former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has appealed against the order given by a Federal Capital Territory High Court judge, Justice Valentine Ashi, that security agents, including the police and men of the Department of State Service, should confiscate his autobiography, My Watch. In the appeal, the former president’s counsel said that his client was dissatisfied with the ruling of the High Court and appealed against the said ruling.

7. The police in Lagos have claimed that the photographer, Ejeh Smith, who was brutalised by a policeman, alongside his wife, Grace, was drunk and had engaged the officer in a fight. The police further defended the officer by claiming that the couple had since the incident refused to make statements to the police.

8. President Goodluck Jonathan has promised not to let Nigeria down if re-elected in 2015. The President said this in his acceptance speech after he was ratified as the presidential candidate of the PDP at the party’s special convention, on Thursday.

9. State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has picked up the Imo state Governorship ticket on the platform of the PDP. This decision is coming less than 24 hours after he failed to pick the presidential ticket of the APC.10.

10. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in its congratulatory message to Gen. Muhammedu Buhari said that he would lose the 2015 as he had lost all other elections in the past. This was contained in a statement by its spokesman, Olisa Metuh.
