Indications have emerged that a governorship aspirant on the platform
of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has
petitioned the PDP Electoral Appeal Panel, demanding for another
governorship primaries to be conducted.
Vanguard gathered that the petition which was addressed to the
chairman of the panel, claimed that the exercise was characterised by
over voting, hence the call for the results to be voided. The petition reads: "I, Senator Musiliu Olatunde Obanikoro, a
gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP, in Lagos
State, having taken notice of irregularities in the conduct of primary
election conducted on December 8, 2014, and declaration of result of
same, do hereby petition your panel as follows:
That the accreditation
of delegates for the election started at about 6:45pm, contrary to
section 19 sub section (d) of the Peoples Democratic Party Election
Guidelines, which provides that accreditation shall be between 8am and
12noon.
The foregoing is a major flaw, which indeed disenfranchised many
delegates who left the venue frustrated particularly when violence
broke out. "Having established that there was over-voting, the election is vitiated and should be voided."
