Benue State Deputy Governor, Chief Stephen Lawani, has denied ongoing
speculation that he may dump the Peoples Democratic Party as a way of
registering his grievances over the outcome of the governorship
primaries that recently held in the state.
DAILY
POST recalls that Lawani lost the primaries to Terhemen Tarzoo, a
candidate being allegedly imposed on the PDP by the state governor,
Gabriel Suswam.
Lawani,
in a text message forwarded to newsmen on Tuesday assured that his
loyalty to the PDP remained intact; hence he was not contemplating
dumping the party. “I remain in the PDP and going nowhere,” he said.
Lawani
polled 317 votes during the governorship primary, to be placed second,
behind the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Terhemen Tarzoor, who
emerged as the winner of the governorship primaries.
He further advised Benue people to avoid spreading rumour as such was not healthy for democracy.
