A woman identified as Miss Lucy Gbagyo, recently lost her life after
jumping out of a speeding commercial bus in the Shogunle area of Lagos
State.
The tragic incident happened on Sunday when the deceased
was going to see her fiancé and boyfriend of four years, Philip Nguhwa,
to discuss plans for their upcoming wedding slated for February 27,
2015. Eye witnesses told Punch newspaper that the deceased jumped out of the vehicle when the bus driver drove past her destination.
She
had boarded a vehicle from the Toll Gate end of the Lagos-Abeokuta
Expressway en route to Ilori Street in the Shogunle area where Nguhwa
lives but when she alerted the driver, he ignored her. In the process, she reportedly forced the door open and jumped out.
It wasn’t until then that the driver brought the vehicle to a halt. It was one of the passengers that had gathered in the area to save the victim that put a call through to her fiance. “One
of them picked her phone and checked the last dialed number. He saw my
number and called me. He said I should rush down to the bus stop. “When
I got there, I called her name and she opened her eyes faintly and shut
them again.
We all carried her into the bus and rushed her to the Lagos
State University Teaching Hospital. “We had not gone too far when
she died in the vehicle. When we got to the hospital, she was confirmed
dead on arrival.” Her fiance said. The police has since arrested both the driver and the conductor of the vehicle.
